Once in a while I finish a project of my own! This is a little overdue for a baby quilt for my cousin's new baby but I am really glad I finally got it done! They have decorated his room with a super hero theme. I chose Spider-man as he is one of my favorites.
This is my first time experimenting with spiderwebs, just in time for the upcoming fall season!!

Custom quilting - stipple with a little extra
Custom quilting - swirls, wishbones
It's taken me a little time to get my "swirls" down and I still need more practice! They really are fun to quilt. This is a small table topper I quilted for a client with swirls and wishbones!
"He Love's Me" pantograph
One of my favorite things about quilting is hearing stories about how women get together in groups to make quilts for a purpose. This is a quilt made for one woman getting married. Many friends (near and far) were asked to make a quilt block for this wedding quilt, designed with notes, paint, flowers, beads, and other things that were representations of the friendships and memories. Here is how it all came together….

Custom quilting on the "Big Bang"
It's really exciting to try new quilting techniques and have them turn out, (as long as you don't look too close)!
This is a gorgeous red/white quilt made by Ann. Figuring out what to quilt is sometimes the hardest part of quilting and thankfully Ann is open to whatever I feel like quilting for her! So…I made curved diamonds. And RED thread….lovely stuff!

I love this pattern. It's the "Big Bang", a quilt that many here locally have made in a class taught by Edie Walker. (and I see I didn't flatten out the quilt all the way for this pic!) |

Anchor pantograph
Some days I wish I had a computer to quilt difficult patterns for me. I saw an anchor pattern online but it was only a digital file. It seemed to be a pretty perfect design and my client and I were both loving the anchor. I improvised and made my own pantograph. It's much more challenging than I would have imagined…trying to figure out how the next row is going to match up and look. Kudos to the artists who figure out brilliant pantographs!!
I practiced the anchor quite a bit before I started in on the quilt. It's pretty small…smaller than I originally planned since I had to downsize the design I made to make it fit in the arm space of the machine.
Well…here it is! The anchors are not perfect but maybe that's what I like about not having a computer.

Finally some custom quilting!!!! :)
The hardest thing about quilting for me is knowing what pattern or design to stitch and where. My friend Kristen gave me a simple hexagon pillow sham and asked me to quilt it. I drew out a design and was so pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I'm still practicing my custom quilting and this I have to say is quite possibly my favorite thing I've quilted so far.
I used a curved ruler to create the flowers and then pebbled the rest. Special thanks to a craftsy class I took by Kimmy Brunner who inspired me to try my rulers again. (First time using a straight ruler I broke 3 needles and then broke my ruler in half!!!!). I took my time and made some marks…my results:
